Standard Specification for Seamless Ferritic and Austenitic Alloy Steel Boiler, Superheater, and Heat Exchanger Tubes
1.1 This specification covers seamless ferritic and austenitic steel boiler, superheater, and heat exchanger tubes, designating grades T91, TP304, etc. These steels are listed in Tables 1 and 2.
1.2 A grade that contains the letter H in its name has different requirements than a similar grade that does not contain the letter H. These different requirements provide higher creep rupture strengths than would normally be achievable for similar grades without these different requirements.
1.3 Pipe sizes and thicknesses normally supplied in accordance with this specification are 1/8 in. [3.2 mm] ID to 5 in. [127 mm] ID and 0.015 to 0.500 in. [0.4 to 12.7 mm], inclusive, minimum wall thickness, Or, if specified in the order, the average wall thickness. Tubes with other diameters may be supplied provided they meet all other requirements of this specification.
1.4 Values expressed in SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded solely as standard values. In the text, SI units are shown in parentheses. The values specified in each system may not be exactly equivalent; therefore, each system should be used independently. Combining values from both systems may result in non-compliance. Inch-pound units shall be used unless the "M" designation of this specification is specified on the order.

B allows ordering of T2 and T12 up to 0.045 sulfur content. See 16.3.
C Alternatively, instead of this ratio minimum, the material shall have a minimum hardness of 275 HV in the hardened state, defined as after austenitizing and cooling to room temperature but before tempering. Hardness testing should be done at the mid-thickness of the product. The frequency of hardness testing shall be two samples per heat-treated batch, and the results of hardness testing shall be reported in the material test report.
