ASTM A182 F316L Stainless Steel Cross Threaded Forged Pipe Fitting

Yuhong is one of the leading manufacturers, traders, suppliers and exporters in China ASTM A403 WP304 Socket Welded Pipe Fittings industry. Stainless steel A182 F316L contains higher chromium and lower carbon content. Lower carbon means less chromium carbide precipitation due to welding. The carbon content of this steel is as low as 0.03%, reducing its susceptibility to intergranular corrosion. This steel can be continuously exposed to temperatures of about 1500°F without significant fouling.

It is suitable for a variety of applications such as automotive headers, machine parts, screws and food handling equipment. We offer these DIN 1.4404 stainless steel butt welded pipe fittings in different forms such as tees, reducers, crosses, short elbows, elbows and end caps. SS UNS S30400 Butt Welded Pipe Elbow has excellent forming and welding properties. This steel also has excellent oxidation resistance. We develop all our products in a state-of-the-art infrastructure in accordance with international standards to achieve the highest quality.

The ASTM A182 F316L specification covers forged or rolled alloy and stainless steel pipe flanges, forged fittings, and valves and parts for high temperature service. After hot working, forgings should be cooled to a specific temperature before heat treatment, and should be carried out according to the requirements of heat treatment type, austenitization/solution temperature, cooling medium, quenching, etc. Materials should meet the required chemical composition carbon, manganese, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, columbium, titanium. The material should meet the mechanical properties requirements such as tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, Brinell hardness of the ordered grade. All grades H and F 63 shall be tested for average grain size.

A socket weld is a pipe connection detail in which the pipe is inserted into a recessed area of a valve, fitting or flange. Compared to butt weld fittings, socket weld fittings are primarily used for small diameter pipes; typically for pipes with a nominal diameter of NPS 2 or less.

To connect pipes to valves and fittings or other parts of the pipe, fillet seal welds can be used. Socket welded joint construction is a good choice because high leakage integrity and excellent structural strength are important design considerations.

Fatigue resistance is lower than butt weld construction due to the use of fillet welds and abrupt mating geometry, but still better than most mechanical joining methods.

SW fittings are a range of high pressure fittings used in a variety of industrial processes.

They are used for pipes carrying flammable, toxic or expensive materials that are not allowed to leak, as well as steam from 300 to 600 PSI.
They are only used with ASME pipe and have the same size range.
They are used in areas where pipes are permanent and are designed to provide good flow characteristics.
They are produced to various ASTM standards and manufactured to ASME B16.11. The B16.11 standard covers pressure-temperature ratings, dimensions, tolerances, markings, and material requirements for wrought carbon and alloy steels. Acceptable material forms are forgings, bars, seamless tubes, and seamless tubes in accordance with ASTM A105, A182, or A350 for assembly chemistry, fusion practices, and mechanical properties.
They are available in three pressure classes: 3000, 6000 and 9000.

Pipes do not need to be chamfered in preparation for welding.
Alignment does not require temporary spot welding, as in principle the fitting ensures correct alignment.
The weld metal must not penetrate the pipe hole.
They can be used in place of threaded fittings, so there is much less risk of leaks.
Radiography of fillet welds is not practical; therefore, proper assembly and welding are critical. Fillet welds can be inspected by surface inspection, magnetic particle (MP) or liquid penetrant (PT) inspection methods.
Construction costs are lower than butt-weld joints due to the lack of strict assembly requirements and the elimination of special machining for butt-weld end preparation.

ASTM A182 F316L Forged Socket Weld Fittings are a low carbon version of 316 and are not affected by sensitization (grain boundary carbide precipitation). Therefore, it is widely used for heavy welding parts (about 6mm or more). There is usually no discernible price difference between 316 and 316L stainless steel.

ASTM A182 F316L Forged Socket Weld Fittings are the standard molybdenum grade, second only to 304 in importance in austenitic stainless steels.

Compared to 304, molybdenum imparts better overall corrosion resistance to 316, especially higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.

The austenitic structure gives these grades excellent toughness even at low temperatures.

Compared with chrome-nickel austenitic stainless steel, 316L stainless steel has higher creep, rupture stress and tensile strength at high temperature.

Yuhong offers a full range of ASTM A182 F316L forged socket welded pipe fittings, including elbows, tees, reducers, end caps, joints, etc.
