ASTM A312 (ASME SA312) Stainless Steel Extruded Finned Tube for Heat Exchanger

 

Overview

 

Aluminium extruded finned tube adopts the form of base tube covered aluminium tube (base tube can be carbon steel, stainless steel, copper) to form the fins through machine extrusion, and the fin base and the outer wall of the tube are tightly fitted, and the control of the finned tube can make the finned tube have high heat transfer coefficient and heat transfer performance.

 

Aluminium extruded finned tube, also known as "Integral finned tube", adopts the form of base tube clad with aluminium tube (base tube can be carbon steel, stainless steel, copper), and is extruded by machine to form the fins, and the fin base is tightly fitted with the outer wall of the tube, and the control of this kind of finned tube can make the finned tube have a high heat transfer coefficient and heat transfer performance. Extruded finned tube can be rolled from iron tube, copper tube or aluminium tube composite, which has the advantages of close bonding, small thermal resistance, good heat transfer performance, high strength, small flow loss, strong corrosion resistance, not easy to be deformed under long term hot and cold conditions, and long service life.

 

Extruded finned tube advantages

 

Compared with the common wound finned tube, the contact thermal resistance is stable with the change of temperature, so the heat transfer performance of the bimetallic aluminum extruded finned tube is better than that of the spiral finned tube in the limit wall temperature range.

 

In addition, compared with the spiral tube, the bimetallic aluminum extrusion fin tube has outstanding corrosion resistance and high strength, it can withstand the water pressure cleaning of 4.0MPa, and the fin will still not fall off the base of the bimetallic aluminum extrusion tube. The pipe can be selected according to the corrosion of the fluid in the pipe and the processing technology. The base tube can be carbon steel, copper, stainless steel, etc.

 

The performance degradation of a heat exchanger is essentially due to two phenomenons which occurs over time :

 

  • Increased fouling resistance due to impurity accumulation contained in both fluids.
  • Increased thermal resistance at the tube-to-fin bond due to thermal cycling dilatation of the materials and to corrosion at the fin base or root. These factors creates a loss of contact or bond pressure in between the fins and the tube.
