ASTM A268 specification covers various grades of nominal wall thickness stainless steel pipes, suitable for general corrosion-resistant and high-temperature environments. Most of these grades are commonly referred to as the "straight chromium" type, characterized by ferromagnetism. TP430Ti (UNS S43036) is an upgraded version of ordinary 430 (UNS S43000), which adds titanium element to improve intergranular corrosion resistance and weldability. It belongs to titanium stabilized ferritic stainless steel.



What are the characteristics of ASTM A268 TP430Ti Stainless Steel Seamless Tube?

  • Corrosion resistance: ASTM A268 TP430Ti has better corrosion resistance than ordinary 430, because titanium can combine free carbon to inhibit intergranular corrosion, and is resistant to nitric acid, organic acid, and weak acid medium corrosion, and has better resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) than austenitic steel.
  • Oxidation resistance: ASTM A268 TP430Ti has excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance and can be used continuously in high-temperature environments of ≤800℃. The chemical properties of the surface Cr₂O₃ oxide film are very stable, which can well protect the surface of the pipe from oxidation.
  • Weldability: Titanium inhibits sensitization of the heat-affected zone of welding, and no annealing is required after welding, while ordinary 430 requires annealing.
  • Mechanical properties: The mechanical properties of ASTM A268 TP430Ti are of medium strength, which is a typical value for ferritic steel. It is better than poor low-temperature toughness and needs to avoid impact conditions below 0°C. At the same time, ASTM A268 TP430Ti, like other ferritic stainless steels, has strong magnetism.

ASTM A268 TP410Ti Stainless Steel Seamless Tube Processing and Manufacturing

  • Welding: TIG welding is recommended, using ER430/ER430Ti welding wire; strictly control the interlayer temperature ≤150℃; no post-weld annealing is required (titanium stabilization advantage)
  • Cold forming: limited ductility, avoid severe deformation; bending radius ≥2 times wall thickness (to prevent cracking)
  • Heat treatment: Annealing temperature: 780–850°C → fast cooling (to prevent 475℃ brittleness)
  • Cutting: Plasma/laser cutting is better than mechanical cutting (reduce edge embrittlement)

  • High temperature oxidation resistant parts: automobile exhaust system (manifold, muffler); furnace heat exchanger, burner nozzle (≤800℃).
  • Corrosion resistant containers and pipelines: nitric acid storage and transportation equipment (concentration ≤20%); food processing equipment (acetic acid environment); wine fermentation tank.
