Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy (about 67% Ni – 23% Cu) that is resistant to sea water and steam at high temperatures as well as to salt and caustic solutions. Alloy 400 is a solid solution alloy that can only be hardened by cold working. This nickel alloy exhibits characteristics like good corrosion resistance, good weldability and high strength.

For a given tube or size, the required heat transfer can be obtained by specifying the appropriate fin length and fin thickness and/or the number of fin tubes per meter length.

 

HFW Solid Finned Tube

This welded steel finned tube configuration can be used for any practically heat exchanger application, and is particularly suited to high temperature and high pressure applications. The important features of this configuration are efficient, effective bond of fin to tube under all conditions of temperature and pressure, and ability to withstand high fin-side temperatures.

 

A continuous helical fin is attached to the base tube by high frequency electric resistance welding in order to give an efficient and thermally reliable bond.
