Boiler High Frequency Welded Fin Tube

TP347 Studed Fin Tube High Frequency Welding Type 11Cr Pin for Fired Heater

Studed Finned Tube is manufactured by wrapping a continuous fin strip in a spiral on the tube. HF resistance welding typically uses a frequency of 400 kHz. The fin is wrapped around the tube and continuously welded. The fin strip is wound spirally on the tube and continuously welded with high frequency electrical process to the base tube along the spiral root. The fin strip is held under tension and confined horizontally as it is moulded around the tube, thus ensuring that the strip is in strong contact with the surface of the base tube. Continuous welding is applied at the point where the fin strip begins to bend around the tube diameter using the gas metal arc welding process.

For a given tube or tube size, the required heat transfer surface area per unit length of tube can be obtained by determining the appropriate fin height, fin thickness and/or number of fins per metre of length.

Features of Studed tubes

  • Compact as it takes up little space
  • Highly durable
  • Preferred over finned tubes as a heat transfer system
  • Higher performance

Seamless steel tubes are mainly used in boilers and furnaces. Mostly used in corrosive environments. In the petrochemical industry, the denser crude oil passes through the spiked tube. Heat is generated from the outside of the tube. At the other end of the tube, we get the liquid product, which is subsequently sent for processing.

Studded tubes are also used in water tube boilers. They help to heat water. Studded tubes are oval in shape and are welded to the boiler.

The use of threaded pipes reduces the use of bare pipes as the heat transfer surface of one threaded pipe can replace the heat transfer surface of 4 to 10 bare pipes.

Threaded tubes can be used where harsh fuels are used that can cause damage to the environment. To prevent corrosion, the outer surface of the studded pipe can be coated or treated with a protective layer.

Riveted tubes are also used in soda ash boilers and fluidised bed reactors as they minimise erosion.

They are also used in steel mills, air coolers, power plants, heat exchangers, etc.

Application

Power Industry

  • Boiler Superheaters & Reheaters: With excellent high-temperature and corrosion resistance, they withstand steam erosion to enhance heat transfer efficiency for generating high-temperature steam.
  • Economizers: Increase heat absorption area to recover waste heat from flue gas, improving boiler thermal efficiency.

Petrochemical Industry

  • Furnaces: Applied in radiant and convective sections of heating furnaces, operating stably under high temperature, pressure, and corrosive media to heat process fluids.
  • Heating & Heat Treatment Furnaces: Used as heating elements, resisting high-temperature flue gas erosion to ensure stable heating for metal processing.

Paper Industry

  • Pulping Digesters: Function as heating elements in high-temperature, high-alkali environments to facilitate pulp cooking and improve production efficiency.
  • Steam Drying Equipment: Transfer steam heat to dry paper rapidly, enhancing product quality.

Other Fields

  • Food Processing: Used in heating equipment for baking, steaming, and drying to maintain food quality.
  • Aerospace: Applied in components requiring high heat dissipation, leveraging fin structures to improve thermal efficiency in aircraft engines and related parts.
