YUHONG GROUP - Anti-corrosion treatment of carbon steel flanges
One of the obvious disadvantages of carbon steel flanges compared to stainless steel is their tendency to rust. Rust prevention depends first of all on whether the need is for long-term rust prevention or short-term.
If it is necessary to prevent rust for a long time, it is usually to do surface treatment.
One of the better results is hot-dip galvanising. The steel parts after rust removal are immersed in the melted zinc liquid at about 500℃, so that the zinc layer is attached to the surface of the steel parts. But this treatment is more expensive.
The cost is not so high, generally such as chromium, nickel, zinc and so on. Among them, zinc plating is the more conventional and frequently used surface treatment. It should be noted that galvanising here refers to cold galvanising (i.e. electro galvanising), which is different from hot-dip galvanising above, and is thinner than hot-dip galvanising in terms of thickness, and has poorer corrosion resistance.
If you don't need to prevent rust for a long time, you usually use anti-rust oil or anti-rust liquid. The rust prevention time of the anti-rust oil is longer than the latter, but the anti-rust liquid can be sprayed directly without cleaning. According to different products, there are also different ways of treatment. For large, irregular products, you can use baking paint, plastic spraying, painting (which is high price, good effect is baking paint); for the surface of the assembly of parts, you can apply anti-rust oil, higher requirements on the chrome plating, hardness is good, and the size can be controlled.
