EN 1092-1 Type 11 weld neck flanges may be furnished with a series of facings from Type A to Type H, of which raised face (RF, Type B) is most commonly applied. When raised face is furnished, the transition from the raised face to the flange face can be by radius or chamfer. The height of raised face f doesn’t change in different PN designations but only varies in different size ranges. When raised face is furnished, its height shall be included by the flange thickness C as well as by the overall length of flange.

Grade 316L, the low carbon version of F316L pipe flange has immunity against sensitisation, otherwise known as grain boundary carbide precipitation. Thus, the Gr F316L is extensively used in heavy gauge welded components, where the wall thickness can be over 6mm. The austenitic structure in the astm a182 f316l also gives this grades excellent toughness properties ,that can be witnessed at to cryogenic temperatures.
