Overview

 

ASTM A420 WPL3 elbow is a pipe fitting used for turning high-pressure pipelines at different angles. The proportion of all fittings used in high-pressure pipeline systems is large, about 80%. The wall thickness of high-pressure elbows is generally thicker than that of ordinary elbows, or the compressive strength of the material is higher than that of ordinary elbows.
ASTM A420 WPL3 elbows are suitable for pipeline systems in industries such as petroleum, natural gas, chemical, water and electricity, construction, and boilers. They do not require pipe blanks as raw materials, which can save on pipe making equipment and mold costs. They can be used for any large diameter and thinner elbows, and are suitable for on-site processing of large standard elbows. They are used as flat or developable surface blanks, making them simple to cut and easy to protect accuracy. Convenient assembly and welding.

 

 

Characteristics of A420 WPL3 elbow

 

  • During the welding process of WPL3 elbow, repeated heating will precipitate carbides, reducing its corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.
  • After welding the WPL3 elbow, it has good hardness and is prone to cracking. When using the same model of high-pressure elbow welding, preheating above 300 ℃ and slow cooling treatment at 700 ℃ should be carried out after welding. When the weldment cannot undergo post weld heat treatment, high-pressure elbow welding rods should be used.
  • To prevent eye corrosion caused by heating, the welding current should not be too high, which is about 20% less than that of carbon steel welding rods. The arc should not be too long, and the middle layer should be cooled at a suitable speed, while the weld seam should be narrow.

 

 

A420 WPL3 elbow production process:

  1. The stamping process has good production efficiency, convenient operation, and is easy to achieve mechanization and automation. This is because stamping is processed using stamping molds and equipment. A regular press can travel dozens of times per minute, and high-speed pressure can reach hundreds or even thousands of times per minute, and each stamping stroke may be deeply impacted by a piece.
  2. In general, stamping does not generate chips and chips, consumes less material, and does not require other heating equipment. It is a material saving and energy-saving processing method, and the cost of stamping parts is relatively low.
  3. Stamping can process parts with a wide range of dimensions and complex shapes, such as clocks, stopwatches, and even automotive longitudinal beams, covers, etc. In addition, the cold deformation hardening effect of the material during stamping makes the strength and stiffness of stamping higher.
