The material used in A182 F53 (and other specifications listed below) is described as super duplex stainless steel with a 50:50 austenitic and ferrite structure. The steel combines high mechanical strength (typically up to 570 mpa yield strength) with good ductility and excellent corrosion resistance in Marine environments. A182 F53 alloy is >=40.0, ensuring high pitting resistance. In addition, the steel has a high resistance to crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Notch ductility at ambient temperatures and below zero (below 50°C) is good.
