This material identified by the Unified Numbering System (UNS) designation R50400, is characterized by its excellent balance of moderate strength, superior ductility, and outstanding formability. Its primary value lies in its exceptional resistance to corrosion across a wide range of environments, particularly in chloride-containing media such as seawater, brines, and oxidizing acids, where stainless steels would typically fail.
