ASTM B619 UNS N10276 C276 Weld Pipe For Industrial Corrosion
ASTM B619 is a standard that specifies welded pipes made of nickel and nickel-based alloys. It is specifically for welded pipes, as opposed to the seamless pipes specified in ASTM B622.
UNS N10276 is commonly known as Hastelloy C-276. This material has strong corrosion resistance, making it suitable for harsh environments, such as marine environments susceptible to seawater corrosion, and environments with strong acids and alkalis.

| Section | Topic | Standard Requirements & Specifications |
| 1 | Material and Manufacturing | Raw Material: The sheet, strip, or coiled plate used to manufacture the welded pipe shall conform to the chemical requirements of the appropriate plate/sheet specification (e.g., ASTM B162, B168). |
| Manufacturing Process: Pipe shall be made by an automatic welding process. Common processes include Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Plasma Arc Welding, Electron Beam Welding, Laser Beam Welding (with or without the addition of filler metal). | ||
| Heat Treatment: For most corrosion-resistant nickel alloys (e.g., N10276, N06022, N06625), the pipe must be solution annealed after welding. Requirements shall be in accordance with the relevant material specification. | ||
| 2 | Chemical Composition | The chemical composition of the finished welded pipe shall conform to the limits specified in the standard for the applicable alloy. |
| Product analysis is permitted on the finished material, with allowable deviations as specified in ASTM E29. | ||
| 3 | Mechanical Properties | The pipe shall conform to the minimum mechanical property values (Tensile Strength, Yield Strength, Elongation) specified in the standard. |
| Tension test specimens shall be transverse and taken from the welded and heat-treated pipe, and must include the weld. | ||
| 4 | NDE and Hydrostatic Testing | Hydrostatic Test: |
| • Default requirement. Each pipe shall be tested to a calculated pressure and held for ≥ 5 seconds without leakage. | ||
| • May be waived upon written agreement by the purchaser. | ||
| Nondestructive Examination (NDE): | ||
| • May be specified as a supplement to or a substitute for the hydrostatic test. Must be specified in the purchase order. | ||
| • Common methods: Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, Radiographic examination. | ||
| • Test method and acceptance criteria shall be agreed upon between purchaser and supplier. |
Application:
• Reactors, columns, heat exchangers
• Process piping for acid production, alkylation, chlorination
• Agitators, transfer lines for catalysts and solvents
• Absorber (scrubber) shells, internals, mist eliminators
• Outlet ducting, reheaters, recirculation piping
• Waste incineration flue gas systems
• Acid recovery units (e.g., pickling lines)
• Nuclear fuel reprocessing (auxiliary systems)
