TP316 and TP316L are molybdenum-containing stainless steel grades based on the 18Cr-8Ni stainless steel family. The addition of molybdenum improves the material's suitability for environments requiring enhanced corrosion resistance compared with standard TP304 grades.

TP316L features a lower carbon content than TP316, making it commonly selected for welded fabrication applications where reduced carbide precipitation is considered during service.
