The ”L” denotes ultra-low carbon content (≤0.03%), which eliminates intergranular carbide precipitation during welding and heat treatment, delivering superior resistance to weld decay and intergranular corrosion compared to standard 316 stainless steel. The addition of molybdenum (2.0-3.0%) provides excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride-induced corrosion, making it ideal for harsh chemical, marine, and industrial environments.
