Duplex stainless steel welded pipe, such as UNS S31803 (2205, 1.4462), is a welded tubular product made from duplex stainless steel. Its microstructure consists of roughly equal proportions of ferrite and austenite phases, manufactured via ERW or longitudinal welding processes under standards like ASTM A790 and ASTM A789.

Main Advantages of 31803 Welded Pipe
1. High mechanical strength It has much higher yield strength compared with common austenitic stainless steel (304, 316L), which allows thinner wall design to reduce material weight and cost.
2. Excellent chloride corrosion resistance Good resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in chloride-rich environments, such as seawater, brine and marine working conditions.
3. Superior stress corrosion cracking resistance Duplex grades perform far better than 304 / 316L when exposed to hot chloride media, avoiding sudden pipe failure.
