ASTM A420 WPL3 Low Temperature Long Radius Butt Weld Elbow Steel Fitting

ASTM A420 WPL3 Long Radius Elbow is a low-temperature alloy steel butt weld fitting designed for pressure piping systems where impact toughness at low temperatures is required. Manufactured in accordance with ASTM A420/A420M and dimensional requirements of ASME B16.9, the WPL3 elbow is available in long radius configurations and commonly supplied in 45° and 90° angles.

• During welding, repeated heating precipitates carbides, reducing corrosion resistance and mechanical properties
• Post-welding provides good hardness but susceptibility to cracking; requires preheating above 300°C and slow cooling at 700°C
• Prevents eye corrosion with welding current approximately 20% lower than carbon steel electrodes
• Designed for low-temperature service where impact toughness is critical
