SUS304 Stainless Steel Back Cut Indwelling Needle Tube For Intravenous Infusion Therapy

The Medical Stainless Steel Back Cut Indwelling Needle Tube is a high-precision, hollow, thin-walled tubular structure made from SUS304 Medical Grade Austenitic Stainless Steel, manufactured in compliance with the ISO 9626: 2016 international standard. It forms the core metallic needle of an Indwelling Venous Catheter (commonly called an IV cannula). The "back cut" (or "double grind" / "lancet point") refers to a specific grinding technique that creates an ultra-sharp, tri-beveled point with a secondary grind on the underside, significantly reducing penetration force and improving "first-stick" success rates. This indwelling needle tube acts as the initial introducer, puncturing the vein and allowing the over-the-needle flexible catheter to be advanced; the needle is then withdrawn and discarded.

Regular Sizes:

Common sizes for peripheral IV therapy:

Gauge (G) Typical Outer Diameter (OD) Standard Length Primary Use
14G 2.10 mm 45 - 50 mm Major trauma, rapid high-volume infusion.
16G 1.60 mm 45 - 50 mm Surgery, major bleeding, fast transfusion.
18G 1.20 mm 42 - 45 mm Routine blood transfusion, general fluids.
20G 0.90 mm 32 - 38 mm Most common adult peripheral IV, routine fluids, IV medications.
22G 0.70 mm 25 - 32 mm Pediatrics, elderly, fragile veins, prolonged infusions.
24G 0.55 mm 19 - 25 mm Neonates, pediatric, very small / fragile veins.
26G 0.45 mm 19 - 25 mm Extreme pediatrics / neonatology, superficial micro-veins.

Key Advantages & Characteristics:

1. SUS304 Stainless Steel Material:

  • Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Highly resistant to bodily fluids, saline, and many medications.
  • High Strength & Rigidity: Provides necessary column strength for clean puncture without buckling.
  • Biocompatibility: Non-toxic, non-reactive, suitable for transient tissue contact.

2. Back-Cut (Tri-Bevel) Point:

  • Ultra-Sharpness: Reduces penetration force, minimizing patient pain and tissue damage.
  • Clean Entry: Creates a precise slit in the vein wall, aiding catheter advancement and reducing post-removal bleeding.
  • Superior Finish: Polished surface minimizes friction ("drag") during insertion and withdrawal.
  • Consistency & Reliability: Precision manufacturing ensures every needle performs identically.

Main Injection/Insertion Areas:

1. Peripheral Veins of the Upper Extremities:

  • Dorsal metacarpal veins.
  • Cephalic vein.
  • Basilic vein.
  • Median antebrachial vein.

2. Peripheral Veins of the Lower Extremities (less common in adults, used more in infants):

  • Dorsal pedal veins.
  • Saphenous vein.
  • Scalp Veins: Primarily in neonates and infants.

Different Applications:

  • Peripheral Intravenous (IV) Therapy
  • Standard Peripheral IV Catheters: Most common use.
  • Safety IV Catheters: Integrated with needle retraction or shielding mechanisms to prevent needlestick injuries.
  • Midline Catheters: Used as the introducer for longer catheters placed in deeper arm veins.
  • Winged Infusion Sets ("Butterfly"): Often utilize a 25G or 27G stainless steel needle for short-term or pediatric access.
  • Specialized Administration Sets: For specific drugs or therapies requiring reliable venous access.
