ASTM A815 UNS S32750 WP-S Elbow, Duplex Stainless SteeI Pipe Fitting B16.9
The ASTM A815 UNS S32750 WP-S Elbow is a pipe fitting manufactured from super duplex stainless steel (UNS S32750) in accordance with ASTM A815. The designation “WP-S” indicates a seamless butt-weld fitting, meaning the fitting body is seamless wrought. This elbow is used to change the direction of fluid flow in piping systems (typically 45° or 90° or 180° ) (available in both long radius LR and short radius SR designs). UNS S32750 is known for its excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, and high mechanical strength. It is the Unified Numbering System designation for Duplex Stainless Steel 2507, a super duplex stainless steel with very high strength and exceptional corrosion resistance. Making it ideal for severely corrosive environments such as offshore engineering, petrochemical, seawater desalination, and flue gas desulfurization.

2. Key Advantage
The corrosion resistance of S32750 is its core advantage in replacing conventional duplex steel and high-nickel alloys, mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Pitting and Crevice Corrosion Resistance: With high Cr (25%), Mo (4%), and N (0.3%), the material achieves a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) of ≥40 (and up to 43), enabling long-term service in seawater. CPT ≥40℃ (20% NaCl solution), CCT ≥35℃.
Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) Resistance: The ferritic phase provides excellent SCC resistance in chloride-bearing environments, a property where austenitic stainless steels (e.g., 316L) are deficient.
Intergranular Corrosion Resistance: Extremely low C content (≤0.030%) reduces chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries.
General Corrosion Resistance: Highly resistant to organic acids (formic, acetic). Corrosion rate <0.05 mm/year in 10% formic acid and 50% acetic acid, versus >0.2 mm/year for 316L.
Erosion and Corrosion Fatigue Resistance: Excellent resistance to erosion corrosion and corrosion fatigue.
3. Key Applications
Offshore Engineering: Deepwater oil & gas extraction, subsea manifolds, FPSO; compliant with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156
Seawater Desalination: RO systems, MSF plants; exceptional chloride corrosion resistance (CPT ≥40℃)
Petrochemical: Refinery units, chemical reactors, heat exchangers
Power Generation & Environment: Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems, nuclear auxiliary piping
Pulp & Paper: Bleaching plant piping systems
Specialty Chemicals: PTA plants, fertilizer equipment
