ASTM A182 Grade F11 Class 2 Blind Flange is a solid, disc-shaped pipe flange, manufactured via the forging process, designed to seal the end of a piping system or pressure vessel opening. It is produced in compliance with ASTM A182, the standard specification for forged or rolled alloy-steel pipe flanges, forged fittings, and valves for high-temperature service.

This flange is predominantly used in high-temperature and high-pressure environments across the oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, and refinery industries. Typical working temperatures range up to 550°C (1022°F), with pressure ratings commonly specified for Class 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, or 2500 (based on ASME B16.5 or ASME B16.47), depending on the flange dimensions.

Manufacturing Process (Forging)

• Billet Cutting: Alloy steel round billets are cut to weight.

• Heating: Inductively or gas-heated to forging temperature (~1100°C - 1200°C).

• Forging: Hot forged using hammer forging, press forging, or ring rolling to refine the grain structure and eliminate porosity.

• Rough Machining: Performed to remove scale and create a basic shape.

• Heat Treatment: Q&T as per CL2 requirements.

• Finish Machining: Precise CNC machining of the raised face, bolt holes, and back face.

• Testing: NDT (Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle) as per customer requirements.
