Corrosion resistant steel with a chromium content of no less than 12% is the abbreviation for stainless acid resistant steel. The interaction between chromium in steel and oxygen in corrosive media forms a thin oxide film on the surface of the steel, called self passivation film, which makes the steel highly resistant to corrosion in air, water, acid, alkali, and salt. In addition to chromium, alloy elements such as nickel, molybdenum, copper, and titanium can also be added to steel to improve its corrosion resistance, processability, or mechanical properties. ASTM A182 F310 stainless steel flanges must undergo solution heat treatment, first heating to a minimum of 1040°C, then rapidly cooling (usually water quenching). This process redissolves carbides that may have precipitated during forging or machining into the austenitic matrix, resulting in a uniform austenitic structure, ensuring optimal corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance, thereby eliminating internal stress, softening the material, and facilitating subsequent machining.
