Slip-on flanges feature a low hub and a bore slightly larger than the outside diameter of the mating pipe. The pipe is "slipped" into the flange, and then fillet welded to the outside and inside of the pipe to create a secure connection.

 

They are easier to align than butt-weld flanges. They are also less expensive and require less accurate pipe length measurements.

C276, commonly known as Hastelloy C-276, is one of the most widely used nickel-based "high-temperature alloys."

 

This material offers excellent corrosion resistance and is widely used in the most corrosive environments, such as in the chemical industry where it is exposed to HCl, Cl₂, acetic acid, wet chlorine gas, pollution control, and the pulp and paper industry.
