ASME SA213 TP304 Seamless Stainless Steel Tube
TP304 (commonly known as 304 or as 1.4301 per the European EN standard) is an austenitic stainless steel. Its defining characteristic lies in the synergistic effect of Chromium (Cr) and Nickel (Ni), which endows it with excellent corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability. TP304 vs. TP304L and TP316
TP304 vs. TP304L: TP304L is the low-carbon version of TP304 (with C ≤ 0.03). Its core advantage is superior resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding, making it suitable for scenarios where frequent welding and harsh corrosive environments are involved. In contrast, TP304 is more cost-effective and versatile, performing well in non-extreme welding and corrosion scenarios.
TP304 vs. TP316: TP316, due to the addition of Molybdenum (Mo), exhibits better performance in pitting corrosion resistance, seawater corrosion resistance, and resistance to strongly reducing media. However, it comes at a higher cost. TP304, on the other hand, is reliable in general corrosive media (such as air, water, weak acids and alkalis), making it a more cost-effective general choice.
