ASTM A269 TP316L Stainless Steel Seamless Tube refers to a seamless hollow tube manufactured from TP316L stainless steel, in accordance with the ASTM A269/A269M standard specification. ASTM A269 TP316L is a standard specification primarily for small-diameter tubing used in cryogenic to elevated temperature services. While similar to the more common ASTM A312 (which covers larger diameters for high-temperature and general corrosive service), ASTM A269 typically has tighter dimensional tolerances and is often used for more precise applications like instrumentation, hydraulic lines, and heat exchanger tubing. The "316L" grade is a molybdenum-alloyed austenitic stainless steel. The addition of molybdenum (2-3%) provides significantly enhanced corrosion resistance compared to the standard 304 grade, particularly against chlorides and other industrial solvents. Chemical Composition:

Different Surface Finishes:

• Annealed and Pickled (2D Finish): After annealing, the tube is pickled in an acid bath to remove the oxide scale. This results in a dull, matte grayish-silver surface. It is the most common finish for general-purpose corrosion resistance.
• Bright Annealed (BA Finish): The tube is annealed in a controlled atmosphere furnace (e.g., hydrogen or argon), which prevents oxidation. This yields a smooth, shiny, bright reflective surface. It is often preferred for aesthetic applications, pharmaceutical, and food processing where easy cleaning is required.
• Mechanical Polished Finish: The tube is mechanically polished to achieve various grit finishes (e.g., 180 grit, 240 grit, 320 grit, 400 grit). This is done for aesthetic purposes or to achieve a specific surface roughness (Ra) for hygienic or friction-reduction requirements.
• Hydrogen Annealed & Electropolished (EP Finish): The tube is bright annealed in a hydrogen atmosphere and then electropolished. This process removes a thin layer of the surface, creating an exceptionally smooth, non-stick, and highly corrosion-resistant surface. It is mandatory for high-purity applications like semiconductor manufacturing and biopharmaceuticals.
