TP321: The "Stabilizer" for Corrosion Resistance
TP321 contains added titanium (Ti). During manufacturing or welding, the titanium preferentially combines with carbon to form titanium carbides, preventing the precipitation of harmful chromium carbides at the grain boundaries. This avoids "sensitization" and ensures the material's excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion. Its carbon content is controlled to a lower level (≤0.08%), which helps maintain good overall performance in most conventional high-temperature environments.
TP321H: The "Reinforcer" for High Temperatures
TP321H builds upon TP321 by controllably increasing the carbon content to 0.04%-0.10%. At high temperatures, this excess carbon forms fine carbides that act like "pins" within the grains, effectively hindering the slow plastic deformation of the metal under high temperature and sustained stress.Therefore, the "H" suffix in TP321H explicitly indicates its suitability for more demanding high-temperature, load-bearing applications.
If your application involves high-temperature, load-bearing equipment that will operate long-term within the temperature range of 427°C to 900°C, then TP321H is the more suitable choice.
