SB171 C70600 (90Cu/10Ni) forged copper-nickel alloy rings are high-performance industrial forgings engineered for marine and seawater service. Featuring outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion, bio-fouling and erosion, they deliver stable mechanical strength and excellent pressure resistance under harsh offshore and coastal working conditions.

Standard: ASTM B171 / ASME SB171 (Forged & Annealed Condition)

Annealing (Stress Relief & Softening) — Most Common for Forged Rings

 

1. Purpose:

  • Relieve forging/welding residual stress

  • Soften material, improve ductility & machinability

  • Stabilize dimensions for marine/seawater service

2. Parameters:

  • Temperature: 600–750 °C (1110–1380 °F)

  • Hold Time: 2–4 hours (depends on ring thickness)

  • Cooling: Furnace cool or slow air cool (avoid rapid quench)

3. Result:

 

  • Hardness: ~85–95 HB (45–55 HRB)

  • Elongation: ≥30%

  • Balanced strength & corrosion resistance
