ASME/ANSI B16.9 ASTM A234 WP9 CL1 Alloy Steel 45° LR Buttweld Elbow is a critical, high-integrity piping component that combines the creep-rupture strength of 9Cr-1Mo steel with the low pressure-drop benefits of a long-radius bend, all delivered in a fully annealed state for optimal performance in severe, high-temperature environments. Class 1 (CL1): This specifies the heat treatment condition. For WP9, CL1 requires the fitting to be supplied in the fully annealed or isothermal annealed condition. This provides a stable microstructure (ferritic) with optimal ductility and creep resistance at elevated temperatures. (Note: CL3 exists for quenched and tempered conditions, but CL1 is preferred for sustained high-temperature creep service).

Due to the WP9 alloy's ability to withstand prolonged exposure to high temperatures (up to ~600°C / 1100°F) and resist sulfidation and oxidizing atmospheres, this fitting is primarily used in:
