ASME SB163 UNS N04400 Seamless U Bend Tube, also known as”Monel 400 seamless U bend heat exchanger tube”, is cold-formed U-shaped seamless nickel-copper alloy tube manufactured in accordance with ASME SB163 (equivalent to ASTM B163) standard. This specification governs seamless nickel alloy tubes for condensers, heat exchangers and other heat-transfer equipment. UNS N04400 (Monel 400) is a solid-solution nickel alloy with high nickel content. Straight seamless base tubes are produced by hot extrusion and cold drawing, then cold bent into U-shape for heat exchanger bundle assembly. Post-bending-stress-relief or full annealing is normally performed to eliminate residual bending stress and restore corrosion resistance and ductility. The U-bend configuration removes the requirement for expansion joints, absorbs thermal expansion‑contraction inside shell and tube heat exchangers, and is widely used under corrosive process conditions.
