Product Overview

ASME SB163 UNS N08825 Incoloy 825 seamless tube is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy tube designed for condenser and heat exchanger service where resistance to corrosive environments is required.
Also known as Alloy 825 or Incoloy 825, UNS N08825 contains chromium, molybdenum, copper and titanium additions. The alloy is commonly selected for process equipment exposed to both oxidizing and reducing environments, including acidic and chloride-containing media.
The tubes are supplied in seamless construction and solution annealed condition, with dimensional tolerances, testing and surface condition controlled according to the applicable project specification.

Material: UNS N08825 Incoloy 825

UNS N08825 is an austenitic nickel-iron-chromium alloy with molybdenum, copper and titanium additions. Typical composition ranges include approximately 38-46% Ni, 19.5-23.5% Cr, 2.5-3.5% Mo and 1.5-3.0% Cu, with titanium added for stabilization.
The combination of alloying elements provides resistance to a broad range of corrosive process conditions and makes Alloy 825 suitable for demanding chemical and heat-transfer applications.

Product Features
  • Seamless Tube Construction - The seamless manufacturing route eliminates a longitudinal welded seam, making the tube suitable for heat-transfer equipment and process systems where controlled tube integrity is required.
  • Solution Annealed Condition - Solution annealing is used to obtain the specified metallurgical condition and support the corrosion-resistant properties of UNS N08825.
  • Corrosion-Resistant Nickel Alloy - Incoloy 825 is designed for service involving oxidizing and reducing environments and is commonly used in chemical and process applications. It also provides resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking and pitting.
  • Heat Exchanger Compatibility - ASME SB163 specifically covers seamless nickel and nickel-alloy condenser and heat-exchanger tubes, making the specification particularly relevant for shell-and-tube heat-transfer equipment.
  • Customized Dimensions - Tube outside diameter, wall thickness, length, surface condition and testing requirements can be supplied according to equipment drawings and project specifications.

Typical Applications
  • Heat Exchangers & Condensers - Used as heat-transfer tubing in shell-and-tube exchangers, condensers and related process equipment.
  • Chemical Processing Equipment - Suitable for equipment exposed to corrosive chemical process media, particularly where nickel alloy construction is specified.
  • Acid Service Equipment - Commonly considered for equipment handling sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and other corrosive process environments, subject to actual concentration, temperature and service conditions.
  • Oil & Gas Process Equipment - Applicable to selected process equipment, chemical injection systems and corrosion-resistant tubing requirements in oil and gas facilities.
  • Pollution Control Equipment - Used in selected scrubber, absorber and flue-gas treatment equipment where corrosion-resistant tubing is required.
  • Marine & Corrosive Service - Can be considered for selected chloride-containing environments, with final alloy selection based on actual water chemistry, temperature and flow conditions.

Manufacturing Process

Raw Material → Tube Piercing → Hot Working → Cold Drawing / Sizing → Solution Annealing → Pickling → Straightening → Cutting → Inspection → Marking → Packaging
For precision tubing, additional cold drawing or sizing operations can be applied to achieve the specified outside diameter, wall thickness and dimensional tolerances.

Inspection & Testing

Inspection can be performed according to ASTM B163 / ASME SB163 and project-specific requirements. Available inspection items include:

  • Chemical Composition Analysis
  • Mechanical Properties Testing
  • Hardness Testing
  • Eddy Current Testing
  • Hydrostatic Testing
  • Dimensional Inspection
  • Visual & Surface Inspection
  • PMI
  • Grain Size Examination when specified
  • Third-Party Inspection

Testing requirements should be confirmed according to the purchase specification and applicable standard.

Surface Condition

The standard supply condition can be solution annealed and pickled. Other surface conditions may be available according to application requirements, including:

  • Annealed & Pickled
  • Bright Annealed
  • Polished Surface
  • Customized Surface Finish

Dimensions & Supply Options

Available tube dimensions can be customized according to the heat exchanger drawing or purchase specification. Typical supply parameters:

  • Outside Diameter
  • Wall Thickness
  • Tube Length
