This is an ASME SA182 Grade F11 Class 1 weld neck flange (WNRF, raised face), forged from 1.25Cr-0.5Mo low-alloy steel. It joins pipe to valves, pumps and vessels in high-temperature, high-pressure piping where ordinary carbon steel flanges lose strength and risk leaking joints. Because F11 keeps good creep resistance and stable mechanical strength under sustained heat, it is widely used in oil & gas, power and petrochemical lines. The butt-weld neck design transfers stress into the run pipe for a joint with higher integrity than slip-on or threaded flanges, and the Class 1 condition (softer, more ductile than Class 2) suits applications needing toughness over maximum strength. Black paint is only a temporary anti-rust coating for transport.
