What is ASTM A179?
ASTM A179/A179M is a standard specification for seamless cold-drawn mild steel heat exchanger and condenser tubes.ASTM A179/A179M includes seamless cold-drawn mild steel tubes of minimum wall thickness for tubular heat exchangers, condensers, and similar heat transfer equipment.ASTM A179/A179M includes tubes with outside diameters from 1⁄8 to 3 inches [3.2 to 76.2 mm].
Features of ASTM A179 U Bend Tube
Carbon steel tubes are heat treated at 1200°F (650°C) or higher after a final cold drawing for mechanical use involving machining or heat treatment to achieve good tolerances, a smooth surface, and good mechanical properties.
