ASTM A358 / ASME SA358 CL.1 TP316/316L Stainless Steel EFW Pipe Double Welded Pipe
ASTM A358 TP316/316L Class 1 Stainless Steel EFW Double Welded Pipe is a large-diameter, longitudinal welded stainless steel pipe. It is made from a dual-certified low-carbon stainless steel plate, welded from both sides for full penetration, and then fully heat-treated to maximize corrosion resistance. It is a high-integrity product designed for severe service conditions.

The Process: EFW (Electric Fusion Welding)
EFW is a welding process where the pipe is formed from a flat plate (skelp) and then welded longitudinally.
How it works: The plate edges are prepared, brought together, and fused using an electric arc. Filler metal is typically added.
Comparison to ERW: While often used interchangeably, EFW typically refers to welding with filler metal (consumables), whereas ERW (Electric Resistance Welding) usually does not use filler metal and relies on pressure and resistance heat. EFW is preferred for thicker walls and critical services.
Applications
Because of the robust welding method and high corrosion resistance, this pipe is used in demanding environments:
Chemical Processing: Handling acids, sulfates, and chlorides.
Petrochemical Refineries: High-temperature hydrocarbon service.
Pharmaceutical & Food Processing: Where cleanliness and corrosion resistance are vital.
Water Treatment: Desalination plants and wastewater treatment (resists chloride corrosion).
Power Generation: Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems.
